taxi² is free to use. It´s a service intended to improve your journey, and stimulate more efficient use of our resources.
Whenever suits you. I usually fold it up as shown, and then do the little tear to convert it into the taxi² signal on the plane before landing.
You can use your ticket as a signal in various ways - it´s a very flexible system. It´s very easy to signal potential matches on the same flight as you by putting the ticket on your bag or sticking out of your pocket. It´s often best to show your ticket in baggage claim, at arrivals, or by the taxi rank, becuase people who see it there are ready to go and you can get on with your journey.
You can print out when you print your e-ticket or whenever you like before your journey.
To fold the ticket, see the guide here. We kept the origami factor to the minimum.
No, just tear on the lines as shown in the guide.
No, the pen is just good to give it more strength and to have a pen on hand to write on the ticket if you need to.
You can find a taxi share partner in two ways, by simply using your ticket as a signal on your journey, or by finding a good match on the taxi² website and contacting them via email to make arrangements. Of course you can use the ticket as a signal even if you have made a matching arrangment.
We recommend that you make very flexible arrangements and with no more than a 15 minute waiting-time. That means that if you don´t see your arranged match 15 minutes after the agreed time, you keep on with your journey and use your ticket to connect with someone in the airport.
This means that there is no confusion - if you are more than 15 minutes late for an agreed meetup, you know that the meeting is off and the late person also continues with their journey, using their taxi² ticket to find a sharing partner.
Same airport, different terminals. Take care to arrange to meet somewhere that is both convenient and unique so that there is no confusion. (There are lots of Starbucks and information desks in airports these days!). As always there is no need to worry to much because you are never going to wait more than 15 minutes for anyone, and no one will wait more than 15 minutes for you.
Your sharing partners know that when you are not there in 15 minutes the meeting is off, so there is no big deal. You should find a match on your delayed flight using your ticket - you can be sure they will be just as delayed as you are!
No problem, you use the service when and where you feel like. The 15 minute rule (link) means no one will be too dissapointed or inconvenienced.
We give three simple options for you, it´s usually easy to agree on a fair split.
Usually you should cover the cost of your own extras if a cab charges for baggage. But other than that you should split the cost as per the sharing options.
15 minutes maximum. One of the only rules of the service is that you do not wait for someone who does not turn up as agreed. This is better for everyone since it allows you to get on with your journey (you can still find a good match using your ticket signal) and means that everyone knows when to abandon a meet up arrangement without the need to exchange phone numbers.
Again we suggest 15 minutes maximum, its best to keep on moving towards the taxi rank because all travellers will acumulate there.
If you are unlucky and there is no one around who wants to share a taxi, you just have to decide if you want to stump up for a solo ride or go via bus or some other means of transport.
We have designed the service so that you don´t need to share any personal details. Other travellers will communicate with you via an anonymous email address, and they will know you as your username. This makes everything much more comfortable for everybody.
Using the taxi² service you are simply sitting next to someone in a car just as you do in an airplane, so there are not really any additional safety concerns. You will always be either in an airport or in the presence of the taxi driver, so if you have any concerns about safety just communicate that to someone and ask for help. Obviously don´t agree to any strange requests from your sharing partner, or indeed from anyone you run into on your trip!
The mobile version of taxi² is in production right now and we will deliver it to you as soon as possible. This will make it even easier to find matches by use of bluetooth and other mobile technologies which can help you find a good sharing match quickly and easily, as well as split the cost in a fair way with tips and all that good stuff.
